On April 7, 2022, one text from me to him, started it all.
Full time RV life had always been something we talked about doing "when we retire". However, the crazy housing market spawned a new idea. Just two years before, we had built our dream home, from the ground up. That house was everything we always wanted. It was huge, had a big backyard for the boys, was at the end of an amazing cul-de-sac, and we hand picked all the interior and made it our own. What we didn't expect was for that house to increase in value over 70% in just two short years. It's almost like we won the lottery. How could we not take advantage of that huge increase in value and start our retirement adventure a little early? With the third of the older boys moving off to go to college and the fact that we already homeschooled the two little ones, the timing seemed perfect.
And so it began...
As you can see in the texts above, a lot of laugh emojis were involved until he realized how serious I was. But once he was on board, it was a whirlwind of emotions and an even bigger whirlwind of events set in motion. Were we really about to sell our dream house? At first, it seemed like a pipe dream. I think I really believed in my heart that we wouldn't be able to make everything happened that needed to happen to live this kind of life. But, we were determined to try. So, 2 days after that text was sent, we stepped foot in the first RV we had ever been in. Yes, you read that right. Until that moment, neither of us had ever even been inside of an RV. But, that was all it took. A few days later, we listed our house for sale!
